Curiosity surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro’s price has been rife since we first heard that the upgraded PS5 was coming.

However, as the possible launch window for when that will happen grows near, price tag leaks have started to pop up online.

Spoiler alert, it’s not a leak you’re going to like.

Initially, we were excited about the PlayStation 5 Pro, not least of all because multiple sources have hinted at it releasing later this year.

The new piece of hardware promises a “huge leap” in capabilities, which has definitely whet the appetite of many would-be buyers.

Unfortunately, the thrill of a new Sony console is currently being outweighed by the devastating realisation that it’ll cost a pretty penny.

Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb has purportedly teased that the PS5 Pro will have a hefty $600 price tag.

Worse still, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that the final price ends up closer to $700.

Many had planned for a significant price jump, given the improvements the new console is said to offer.

Nevertheless, that price window is likely much larger than some were anticipating.

As if that wasn’t disheartening enough for those looking to upgrade their tech, with the latest PS6 leak said to suggest a significantly higher cost as well, it would seem we needed to start saving months ago.

Still, while Grubb has been known to be a reliable source in the past, without Sony giving any indication of either a release window or cost, we must take their estimations lightly.

Even though we advise caution, undoubtedly the PS5 Pro will cost more than our beloved PS5s.

For those not looking to the future and instead focused on the present, there’s free PlayStation store credit to nab.

But you need to be quick – there’s under a week left to claim it.
