Sony hasn't announced the PlayStation 5 Pro yet, but rumours have been plenty over the months with gamers speculating how much of an improvement the console might be.

The original PlayStation 4 was released by Sony in 2013 with its Pro version arriving three years later in 2016, so with the PlayStation 5 launching in 2020, it’s widely expected that the PS5 Pro shouldn't be too far away.

The most recent rumours surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro are courtesy of video game journalist and industry insider, Tom Henderson claiming that the PS5 Pro could be released at a major convention this year.

However, the suspected specifications for the PlayStation 5 Pro have leaked and it’s left fans feeling somewhat underwhelmed by the power it will reportedly bring, as shared by Reddit user ReksveksGo.

The information shared on Reddit is via the Twitter account ThatBomberBoi, which shared comparison images of the graphics preset options of the rumoured PS5 Pro reportedly condemned “Trinity” alongside the standard PlayStation 5.

The Reddit thread was less than impressed with the rumoured specs such as vladgrappling who asked the fair question: “Nothing major from the looks of it. Only one Ultra vs High graphic setting while everything else is the same. The dynamic resolution factor is 0.8 instead of 0.6 as well. Frames per second are the real question, so how much will the FPS improve?”

“The CPU is the same, so it probably won't change except maybe a bit higher FPS when you go unlocked mode in games that allow it,” suggested Quatro_Leches.

“I honestly don't get the point of a Pro console this generation. There have been few games exclusive to the new generation because companies have been too scared to lose money by skipping PS4/Xbox One,” exclaimed Jackski.

I believe that when it comes to the PlayStation 5 Pro, it might be wise to lower our expectations but hopefully, it might at least give a small FPS and resolution boost, unlike what is expected of the PlayStation 6.

No release has been announced for the PlayStation 5 Pro but it’s expected launch is late this year or early 2025. That being said, as with all unconfirmed rumours, we should take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
