PlayStation has dropped a new update containing a full UI overhaul for PlayStation 5. Fans are loving the update which gives players more flexibility over the dashboard.

Showcased on Twitter by user Gene Park, it shows that users can now create widgets that will show specific information about various parts of the PS5, plus it brings back dynamic themes.

Sony also recently revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro, an upgraded version of their bestselling console

According to the tweet, you’ll be able to remove all promo content from your home screen while adding widgets for things like your internal storage, your trophies, and even you current downloads.

Players have been begging for more customisation options for the console since its release and it seems Sony is relenting.

Reactions are positive and fans can’t wait to get their hands on the update.

One Twitter user sees it as a huge step forward saying, “I can't wait for this. Best update the PS5 has had.”

Another user is pining for one old feature from PS4 and would love to see it implemented, “I miss the friends activity thing from the PS4 where you can see what trophies your friends have gotten, it’s something I love about Steam.”

Of course, the return of dynamic backgrounds should also be celebrated as they were a great feature of the older Sony consoles.

While we’re yet to see them fully implemented, it will be great once developers start creating backgrounds for our favourite games.

The ability to remove promo content from Sony is a big plus for most, with this user celebrating it, “Was so happy to see that I could remove that awful news hub feature. Like yeah I totally needed to know that a new ghostbusters movie was out thank you PlayStation.”

Having all our information in one place rather than scrolling through several menus is a major improvement and hopefully it continues to improve.
