PlayStation Plus drops free trial for AAA 2026 open world banger

PlayStation Plus users can now pick up a free trial for one of 2026’s best-reviewed games, allowing you to play a small chunk of the game at no additional cost.
It’s not a main reason to subscribe, but the game trials feature of PlayStation Plus Premium has been a great way for members to try out new games without having to spend a lot of money on the full title.
These trials are distinct from demos in that they basically allow you to download the full game and play as much as you want, with the only caveat being that you have a small window of time to play.
This week, PlayStation Plus users can now pick up a free trial for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Released earlier this year, the game is the first Lego Batman game since 2014’s Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and takes more inspiration from the Arkham games in terms of combat and exploration.
That means a more robust combat system, where you prioritise using combos, stealth techniques, and detective skills to take on some of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals.
The PlayStation Plus trial for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight allows users to play up to 90 minutes of the game, which is enough time to play the opening chapters as well as do some exploring around Gotham City.

In our own review of the game, we said that “Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is impossible to put down. It manages to imbue the intensity of Gotham with just the right level of whimsy and humour.
“The game’s perfectly crafted open-world and varied mission design don’t simply make it a blast to play; it also makes the game a very good value for money, and that goes a long way these days. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight deserves to stand proud as one of the best games of 2026 and within Lego and Batman’s history.”
It was the first Lego game by TT Games since 2022’s Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which adapted all nine main movies in the Star Wars franchise, with content from the spin-offs like Rogue One and The Mandalorian also being included.
Other Lego games by different developers have also been released over the last few years, including Lego Horizon Adventures, Lego 2K Drive, and Lego Party.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
