Horizon Zero Dawn's live-action Aloy has fans agreeing on one thing

I can understand the reasoning

Horizon Zero Dawn’s live-action adaptation has already been through a major overhaul, but it remains on the way.

Initially due to be a TV series at Netflix, Horizon Zero Dawn will now be adapted into a film by PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures.

That’s the same team-up that brought us the likes of Uncharted and Gran Turismo.

With that in mind, I’m not expecting anything to the quality of, say, The Last of Us or Fallout, but to be honest, I’ll take anything.

Whether it’s a flop or a success, it’ll simply be fun to see Sony take a stab at bringing Aloy’s world to life on the silver screen.

We’re not yet at the stage where creatives are ready to put together a cast, but that hasn’t stopped fans from giving their takes on who should bring these characters to life.

In fact, it’s something I’ve written about myself.

Personally, I’d love to see Fear The Walking Dead’s Alycia Debnam-Carey portray Aloy.

She’s an incredible actress and has proven that she can hold her own in an action-oriented world.

Even when Fear The Walking Dead got a tad, well, silly, I always appreciated Alycia’s ability to carve out some emotional tangibility in Alicia’s storylines.

The vast majority of fans though are suggesting that the film should find a complete unknown.

ICYMI: The Last of Us returns for its second season next month on 13 April.

“I feel like [Aloy’s] casting could make or break the move,” wrote Reddit user chamomileforbed.

“In the game, Aloy is an outcast. She is cast out from her own tribe and is a newcomer to all others. She shouldn't be played by a household name. I don't want to see a familiar face playing Aloy. [...] I, of course, want her to be played by a competent actress who has movie experience, but not anyone I would recognise,” they continued.

“It should NOT be a famous actress because then it becomes, for example, a Jennifer Lawrence movie as opposed to being a HORIZON movie. The story of the movie can make or break it. A famous actress will be a distraction. She should be a ‘no-name’ by comparison,” agreed AFthrowaway3000.

“Sophia Lillis. She's an established actress, but not really a huge name yet. She's the right age, I feel like she has the perfect look, and she's actually a good actress with a promising future,” dumdumdudum suggested.

It’ll be interesting to see which route casting directors take.
