It looks like Horizon Zero Dawn might be getting a major new release, but not everyone is happy about that prospect.
Developed by Killzone studio Guerrilla Games and originally released in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the most well-received games of its time on PlayStation 4 from critics and fans alike, as suggested by its scores of 89 and 8.3 on Metacritic.
Then, five years later in 2022, we were treated to its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, which garnered similar scores to its predecessor.

Not content with a recent(ish) sequel, the Horizon series would see three other new releases, namely, the PS VR2 exclusive Call of the Mountain in 2023, as well as LEGO Horizon Adventures and a remaster of the original game the following year.
In our review of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, we said: “You may not have thought it possible, but this version of Aloy’s world is even more beautiful, with Nixxes’ subtle attention to detail resulting in a space that feels even more immersive and brimming with life.”
I think it’s fair to say that over the last eight years, there’s been plenty of Horizon releases to go around and depending on what side of the fence you sit on, you’re either going to be happy or roll your eyes at this upcoming news.
Next up, Horizon is set to receive the adaptation treatment as a major motion picture from Columbia Pictures and PlayStation productions is in the works.

“Never beating the industry plant allegations,” replied SynthPotato to the news, referring to claims that those in charge are determined to give us new Horizon content, regardless of whether it's a success or if the fans want it.
“Oh brother.. they are really pushing this series,” exclaimed CanadianZar.
“No one asked for this!” claimed Wokenessisevil.
On the flip side, there are some fans excited by the prospect of the Horizon movie.

“Columbia Pictures better not mess this up!” said yunglava.
“YESSS,” yelled waterpalacedx.
“I'm actually excited for this. I like Horizon Zero Dawn,” declared Primrose_Petals.
As a fan of the Horizon series, it has all the ingredients to be a successful live-action adaptation. A futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting, robot dinosaurs, further apocalyptic doom and plenty of action. What’s not to love?

That being said, despite having all the ingredients, Resident Evil fans will be very familiar with wasteful opportunities when it comes to live-action adaptations.
