Further Gears of War rumours are spreading across social media, suggesting a PlayStation 5 release is imminent.

In years gone by, it would have been unthinkable that the Gears of War series, a renowned Xbox first-party property, would one day be available on PlayStation. However, recently, we’ve seen more Xbox titles come to PlayStation with the likes of Forza Horizon 5 on the way soon.

Check out the Gears 5 trailer below!

I am a firm believer in there being no smoke without fire and if the Forza series can be released on Xbox, I’m sure that a Gears of War port is only a matter of time. The most prominent rumour related to Gears of War on PlayStation is that it may be released as a remastered collection.

As reported by Push Square (with intel from industry insider eXtas1s), it’s claimed that a PlayStation 5 remastered Gears of War collection will be revealed this summer at the Xbox Showcase, alongside PC and Xbox Series X/S versions.

It’s not known which titles will be included in the collection, but it’s probably safe to assume that it will feature the original trilogy; Gears Tactics may be more unlikely, in my humble opinion.

I also hope that it will include the under appreciated Gears of War: Judgment. Perhaps it may even feature Gears 4 and Gears 5, only time will tell.

Back in July 2024, Gears of War: E-Day was announced, a prequel to the series starring a younger Marcus Phoenix and Dominic Santiago set during the opening days of Emergence Day when the Locust invaded the Earth-like planet, Sera.

It’s expected that the Gears of War collection will be released later this year, while Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled for 2026.

There may be a lot of PlayStation gamers who have never played the Gears of War series, so releasing the collection this year and then the prequel in 2026 will give new fans the chance to get up to speed with events and form attachments to Marcus and Dom.

We’ll keep you posted when we learn more about all the new Gears of War goodness. For now, you can play the entire Gears of War saga with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

As for Forza Horizon 5, that’s headed to PlayStation 5 digitally on 29 April 2025.
