The release of Gears of War: E-Day is only a few months away, but we’ve already learned how long it should take you to finish its story campaign.
Gears of War: E-Day was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2024 with an epic cinematic trailer that instantly garnered plenty of hype. However, we’d have to wait two years until we got a proper look at its gameplay, and it did not disappoint.
The gameplay reveal for Gears of War: E-Day premiered during the Xbox Games Showcase this previous weekend, which gave us the best look at the planet Sera during the day of the Locus invasion, known as “Emergence Day”. It was also cool seeing the young versions of series icons, Marcus Phoenix and Dominic Santiago.
However, during the Gears of War: E-Day gameplay reveal, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced that it will be an Xbox Series X/S console exclusive, ruling out the PlayStation 5.
Gears of War made its debut on the Xbox 360 in 2006, and since that time, it has been one of the leading video game properties of Microsoft, overshadowed only by the likes of Halo.

Pretty much all the campaigns in the series are an absolute blast due to the intense action, stunning set-pieces and daunting boss battles. However, it’s even more fun when being played with a friend in co-op, especially on the harder difficulty settings. Though General Raam might have you pulling your hair out in frustration.

Hair pulling aside, when it comes to being a blast from start to finish, fans will be hoping that the story campaign for Gears of War: E-Day will be no exception. We’ll just have to wait and see. That being said, despite being months away, we can at least tell you how long it might take to finish the new campaign.
When IGN spoke to the current developers of the Gears of War series, The Coalition, creative director of E-Day, Matt Searcy, confirmed the estimated campaign length.
Gears of War: E-Day “is longer than any campaign [The Coalition has] built, at over 14 hours, with more collectables than it's ever had before in a campaign. Of course, this includes the classic COG Tags".
According to the aggregate website, How Long To Beat, it takes this long to beat each campaign:
I’ve always felt that developers and publishers tend to oversell a campaign's length before a game is released, so it wouldn't surprise me if the completion time for Gears of War: E-Day falls just short of 14 hours. Only time will tell.
Gears of War: E-Day will be released worldwide on 6 October 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
