If you’ve not yet tried Enshrouded, perhaps now it’s time to - especially as the popular title will soon launch a major new expansion.

For those who are unaware, Enshrouded is a co-op survival action RPG from Keen Games GmbH which can be played alone or with up to 15 fellow players.

The game landed last year and sees you step into the role of a Flameborn; you’re the last hope of this dying race.

It’s up to you to survive the dangers brought forth by a corrupting fog, reclaiming control over the land you call home.

In terms of gameplay, think of Enshrouded as a perfect blend of Zelda and Valheim, albeit with some Dark Souls-esque fights.

I don’t want to spend too long recapping the basics.

After all, there’s a brand new expansion to dive into. Haha, dive. It’s water related.

You may recall that the first trailer for ‘Wake of the Water’, or Update 7, was dropped during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.

Understandably, it may have been forgotten amidst all of the hysteria for Resident Evil Requiem and Silent Hill f.

The mysterious ‘Wake of the Water’ trailer though seemed to tease plenty of new content for Enshrouded.

The trailer showed the Flameborn diving into a body of water from a clifftop, revealing the ruins of a city below the water’s surface.

It seems that these new underwater locales will lead us to ancient tombs, full of golden treasures.

If we want to nab those treasures though, it looks as if we’ll need to fend off some new enemies.

Very little was formally given away by devs; it’s essentially a case of watch the trailer and speculate, for now at least.

Devs are hard at work finishing up Update 7 which is due to launch this October, so it shouldn’t be too long before some official details drop.

I like what I’m seeing though. If you’ve played God of War Ragnarök, the ‘Wake of the Water’ seems to share a visual kinship with that title’s Vanaheim.

Already fans seem hyped.

“YESSSS WE’RE FINALLY GETTING WATER,” read one comment on the official trailer.

“You guys are the best development team out there. Consistent update after update. I’ve been able to convince many friends to play because of this, and they love it,” another added.

Given how incredibly cool this update looks, I should imagine Enshrouded will be luring in another legion of players before long.

Keep an eye on the game’s official channels for further details, including when this update may land next month.
