The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been transformed into a FC 27-like football game, and it’s absolutely diabolical.
With all of the hype surrounding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 remake, it was only a matter of time before fans started getting creative with their copies of the game.
Not to say they haven’t been creative for years already. We’ve seen Ocarina of Time crossover with Halo of all things in the past.
Zelda: Soccerina of Time, created by Shon J, is on an entirely different level though, and shown off by n2existance on YouTube.
It features its own custom character creator, allowing you to select a head, body and legs using character models from the game.

You can then pick the difficulty of your match and start playing. In the first match shown off in the video we see a team from Kokiri Forest face-off against the residents of Goron City.
The matches themselves are held at stadiums inspired by locations in the game. Like Zora’s Domain for instance.
At the time of writing it’s still a work-in-progress, but for an early build it’s looking exceptional so far. You can play it for yourself via the Hylian Modding Discord channel which is linked in the description of the above video.
Despite being fan-made Zelda: Soccerina of Time looks weirdly official… In an alternate universe we could see Nintendo making this itself as some wacky spin-off for the Nintendo 64.
In fact, we basically did it on the Nintendo GameCube with the release of Super Mario Strikers. The Nintendo mascot has taken part in more sporting events than we’d care to count across his long tenure, and yet the rest of the Nintendo ensemble rarely gets a look-in, even with games like Mario Kart.
Other Nintendo characters deserve spin-offs just as much as Super Mario
While Mario is obviously Nintendo’s golden-boy, we think it’s high time some of the other mascots get their own leisure activities. Below are some spin-offs for other Nintendo IPs that we’d love to see happen one day, if nothing else to give us a good chuckle.
Kirby Bowling
The strongest character in Nintendo’s repertoire has dipped his toe (foot?) into sporting with Kirby Dream Course for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which is basically golf, but we think bowling would be a better fit.
Most of the Kirby cast are spherical so why not send them careening down a bowling alley?
Star Fox Skateboarding
We very rarely get to see what the Star Fox team gets up to during their downtime, but a Tony Hawk-esque game starring Fox, Falco, Slippy and Peppy could be pretty fun.
Animal Crossing Olympics
Very surprised that more spin-off games from the Animal Crossing series haven’t been made, but we’d imagine sport must be popular in their world, so why limit them to just one?
Pikmin Foosball
Given how small the Pikmin actually are they’d probably struggle to do just about any sport if it wasn’t shrunk down to their level.
That said, why not load a bunch of them into a Foosball table and play it that way?
Metroid Mountain Climbing
Samus is a very physically active person, but she’s probably not going to invite the likes of Ridley or Kraid for a game of table tennis. Mountain climbing seems more like her style, and we’ve seen how good of a game that can be with Cairn.
There’s a 0% chance that any of these become actual games, but there’s a slim chance that we see more of these characters in future Mario spin-offs so we’ll take what we can get.
