Star Wars Battlefront 2 Remaster will keep you busy till BF 3 arrives

Hopefully this resurgence will inspire a sequel

Despite it being eight years since it was first released, Star Wars Battlefront II has had a resurgence over the last month and with fans hoping that this will push for a third instalment, this free download is guaranteed to make the wait a whole lot easier.

Released back in 2017, Star Wars Battlefront II is an action shooter game and the fourth instalment in the Star Wars Battlefront series.

Featuring both single-player and multiplayer modes, the single-player campaign takes place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and follows original character Iden Versio, the commander of an Imperial special ops strike.

Despite its age, Star Wars Battlefront II has been hit with a wave of popularity in recent months with the game shooting to the top of the Steam charts thanks to its multiplayer mode.

As a result, it is perhaps no surprise that many fans are also finding ways to experience brand-new content.

That is where Harrison Fog comes in, a modder who has created the Star Wars Battlefront II Remaster.

“Star Wars Battlefront 2 Remaster is a total conversion mod that will overhaul the maps, units, vehicles, weapons and effects of Battlefront II while preserving Online Compatibility and the integrity of the vanilla gameplay,” the description reads.

Receiving constant updates even to this day, it is perhaps no surprise that this overhaul mod has received almost 600k downloads and sits at a 9.6 community rating.

With DICE still not having announced a Star Wars Battlefront 3, this mod may just be the only thing that can keep us distracted until that day arrives. If it arrives, that is.

However, thanks to the resurgence of Battlefront 2, hopefully this will inspire its developers and EA to get to work on the highly-anticipated sequel.
