Red Dead Redemption 2 players can embark on the game's biggest challenge yet all thanks to this fantastic but gruelling fan-made download.

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best games of the last generation, some might even say it’s the best video game of all time, as suggested by its impressive score of 97 on the aggregate website Metacritic.

Check out the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer below!

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prequel to the original game released in 2010 which starred John Marston. In the 2018 release, we play as Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang who we were introduced to in 2010.

Following its launch, critics and fans alike praised Red Dead Redemption 2, not only for its wonderful story that kept you hooked, but for its huge and vibrant Wild West world too, packed full of so many fun activities that it could keep you busier than the main campaign.

That being said, at the time of writing, it’s approaching seven years since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (2019 on PC), so it might be fair to say that many players have experienced all that this beloved Rockstar Games title has to offer.

If you’re one of those players who owns Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, then this mod might just be the remedy you need. The mod in question, created by Tuffy, is called ‘Permanent Death’ and it’s available to download for free via NexusMods.

This mod does exactly what you’d expect it to do, but to stop you from cheating death, the mod description reads, “When you die, your save file will be permanently deleted.” You can even make the game more challenging by upping the difficulty settings in-game.

However, the modder does point out that you can back up your save file, just in case. Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, the ‘Permanent Death’ mod is a PC exclusive.

For the rest of us, we can play Red Dead Redemption 2 as intended on PlayStation and Xbox.
