Pokémon Rebirth is a gorgeous fan-made RPG created in the style of classic franchise entries that transports you back to where it all began, Kanto.
Currently available to play for free in both English and Spanish, Pokémon Rebirth is a wonderful creation set after the events of Pokémon HeartGold.
“Immerse yourself in a revamped story,” it teases, “alongside new characters within the new Challenger Circuit across the vast Johto and Kanto regions”.
By the looks of it, the fan-made title currently features four gyms, as well as an array of side quests where you’ll encounter new Gym Leaders and supporting characters.

The game also makes use of Gigantamax forms, which is fun for those who herald Sword and Shield as their favourite entry.
From what I can tell, Pokémon Rebirth is very much still in development with Beta 1.5 now being the version made available, so don’t be too surprised if you run into a couple of bugs.
I can’t see a name for the developer or team behind this project, but they do have a blog running where updates can be found on the project’s progress.
It’s via this blog that you can actually download Pokémon Rebirth which was created using RPG Maker XP.

This is an experience that’s best played on PC as many of the game’s features are reportedly not available when it’s run via an emulator.
To get it working on PC, you’ll need JoyPlay, with full details available on Pokémon Rebirth’s blog.
As for the characters, well, the game centres around Alyssa, Noah, and Effy.
Alyssa is a Pokémon challenger from Blackthorn City who’s “shy, sensitive, and curious”.

She loves to explore and take photographs “that capture special moments of adventure”.
Noah is another Pokémon challenger but from the competing town of Spring Town.
He’s confident, defiant, and “cares for his friends and protects them when it matters”.
He also feels “a constant need to prove his worth”.

Effy, on the other hand, is known as The Princess of Saffron City - obsessed with becoming the Circuit Champion.
The game looks very well made with some familiar Pokémon appearing including the likes of Chikorita, Rookidee, Togetic, and Cyndaquill to name just a few.
I heartily recommend you give it a whirl this weekend.
And don’t forget that a Nintendo Direct is set to be held today at 2pm BST.

Granted, Pokémon news is usually reserved for Pokémon Day but there’s no harm in hoping for a little something to be unveiled.
We’ll bring you live updates as they happen.
