New Skyrim Mod Shows There's Life In The Old Dog Yet, Reddit Blown Away

This game will never die

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim feels like a game that’ll never die and on the day it finally does, I’m sure something will come along to revive it like this new expansion.

The Elder Scrolls VI might be the one we’re all waiting for but the sheer quality and replayability of Skyrim has made the countdown much more bearable.

So what incredible fan-made expansion has tickled our fancy today? Well, in a surprising twist of events it’s not one you can download…yet.

This is an in-progress mod coming from Deydranos on Reddit, who’s doing Bethesda’s work and modelling in-game armour for all the different species that call Skyrim home.

Deydranos shared a look at new Argonian armour coming to the game and as someone who almost always picks an Argonian when starting a new Elder Scrolls game, I’m thrilled to see the race getting some love.

Memes about their useless underwater breathing power aside, I've always felt like the Argonians makes the most sense for a Skyrim playthrough. In the game, you’re the Dragonborn, so surely choosing a character that looks like a lizard is the right way to go right?

The new armour fits the Argonian characters much better than the traditional armour you can find in the game, with helmets that fit more snuggly to the model’s face, and look pretty intimidating at the same time.

Players seemed to love how the mod is progressing, with one comment reading, “Oh hey, if it isn’t the author of the Lunar Guard Amor, the single best armour mod ever made. This one looks sick too, shoutout to you for keeping the beast races dripped out. Can’t rush perfection, but this one will be great when it drops.”

Another added: “Yooo....this looks awesome, will console players get this mod?” Apparently, the mod probably won’t be available on PlayStation 5 but might be available on Xbox platforms.

One commenter also got confused and thought this armour was made out of Argonians rather than for them, saying, “Made out of ethically sourced argonian hide I hope.” Sounds like a Dagoth Ur burner account to me.

Deydranos has also released several other armour mods for Skyrim, including one aimed at the other beast-race in the game, the Khajiit. So if you fancy dripping out your custom character with some new outfits, you’re encouraged to check out his wares on NexusMods where they're free to download.
