
Need For Speed Underground can be played via a new remaster on PC right now, and it’s gorgeous.
Seriously, this is an impressive reimagining of the hit racing game and one that’s begging for an official release, if Need For Speed ever comes back that is.

The 'RTX Remix Path Tracing' mod for Need For Speed Underground has been out for quite a while but it has never truly been 'finished', as the creator has continuously created new versions, adding even more features for us to enjoy.

Version 0.4.1 is the most recent iteration, introducing path tracing to the mod’s capabilities; a real game changer for a fast-paced racing title such as this.
This update also fixes various issues found in the previous version of the mod, as certain graphical and lighting effects weren’t working for whatever reason.
Fortunately, it’s in a much better and stable state now. You can see that for yourself below.
The results speak for themselves, honestly, and if you haven’t checked the mod out yet, I’d highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of Need For Speed Underground.

You can find the mod online via moddb - and as we’ve discussed, it’s a good idea to check back in every now and then to see if there’s a new version to try.
If Need For Speed Underground isn’t your favourite title though, there are mods out there for the other NFS games too, and hopefully as more and more people start playing them, it’ll show EA that we want more games from this series.
Whether they be brand-new entries or remakes and remasters of existing titles, it needs to happen.
The Forza and Gran Turismo games are great, but they’ve dominated the racing scene for far too long. Let’s get Need For Speed back on top again.
