If you’re yet to try out Star Wars: The Old Republic, you might want to think about doing so soon.

Yes, I want to acknowledge that the game has been around a while, but that certainly doesn’t make it any less deserving of your attention.

Especially as, to this day, Broadsword (and previously BioWare) is still updating The Old Republic, bringing it heaps and heaps of new content on a pretty regular basis.

In fact, it’s been revealed that the latest chunky new update is set to begin its rollout in December - and it’s totally free.

Update 7.6 is officially titled Galactic Threads and will introduce revised character art, a new lair boss, an exciting tie-in, and more.

That’s just a small tease because I’m about to dive into the full breadth of what you can expect.

ICYMI: Did you try Star Wars Outlaws? Get our thoughts on the game below.

As for its story, Galactic Threads follows the Desperate Defiance storyline.

“Players and their Alliance race to find Darth Malgus and stop whatever plans he has set in motion. At the same time, players will also seek answers surrounding Darth Nul’s holocron and the Hidden Chain’s ambitions,” a description reads.

Story missions will roll out starting in December, continuing into 2025, taking players to Hoth, Tatooine, and the digsite at Nul’s temple of Elom.

Dynamic Encounters will be introduced, which you can either stumble across or seek out on the map, allowing players to complete small tasks in exchange for rewards.

The Propagator Core XR-53 is the newest lair boss to land in the game, with both Story and Veteran difficulties being made available.

“The Propagator Core XR-53 originated from one of the many broken pieces when the Emperor's Fortress crashed onto Ilum. The XR-53 is a Rakatan droid replicator trying to fix itself by harvesting resources but its core functions have gotten a bit disrupted,” a teaser reads.

Devs also are continuing to modernise the game’s character art, with this update focusing on the assets of Tython, Korriban, Hoth, and Ilum.

Finally, a Skeleton Crew tie-in has been revealed, coinciding with the launch of the Disney Pus show next month.

That includes the Mysterious Rogue armour, Fearless Buccaneer weapons, the Meirm Cicada Mount (which includes a mini pet functionality), and more customisation options.

You can view the developer’s full recap of the update.

As I said, this should all kick off next month with story missions continuing to rollout into 2025.
