Super Mario's Next Free PC Port Is Yours To Play Before Switch 2 Reveal

Nintendo fans are patiently waiting for the next Super Mario platformer, but in the meantime these PC ports are keeping them at bay.
The wait has been a little ridiculous even for Nintendo. Not counting spin-offs like Mario Kart World and re-releases like Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park (what a mouthful), we’re yet to see a new Mario platformer made solely for the Nintendo Switch 2.
While you wait though you should turn your attention to your PC, as a steady stream of Mario and other Nintendo games have been landing on the platform for free.
Of all the 3D Super Mario games there simply hasn’t been another like Super Mario Galaxy.
Originally released for the Nintendo Wii and later ported to the Nintendo Switch it’s a fabulous title that gained such notoriety it was the base for the latest animated film.

It’s now unexpectedly coming to PC and you can learn all about it below.
As shared on X by Senhor Linguica Pro, Project Petari is a PC decompilation of Super Mario Galaxy. At the time of writing it’s not finished but it’s making good progress and should be playable soon.
When it’s finished you’ll be able to play Super Mario Galaxy on your PC like several other decompiled games, some of which have even been turned into VR games somehow.

In case you’re confused you can play Super Mario Galaxy on PC already with a few emulators but when the decompilation is finished it’ll be playable natively.
This brings a number of benefits but mostly for those who want to alter the game’s code in cool ways. It’ll make modding incredibly easy and given Super Mario Galaxy’s excellent level design we could be seeing the dawn of thousands of new levels built into the game itself.
It’s an excellently timed project too as fans are waiting to see if the latest round of Nintendo leaks are true.
The leaks claim the next 3D Mario game will be called Super Mario Titans, an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Some images accompanied the leak but fans quickly accused them of being made with AI, which does seem to be the case for some of them.
We’ll likely find out more in the coming months as a Nintendo Direct is expected to drop in Summer.
