Super Mario 64 still holds up to this day, but it makes you wonder what it would be like if it got a full-on remake…

Now I love Super Mario 64, I played it non-stop on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console, probably more than any of the actual Wii games and it was even better when I got my Nintendo 64 copy.

Ever wondered what GoldenEye 077 would look like in Mario 64? Check it out below

You honestly can’t go wrong with it and despite its age it still holds up tremendously if you’re thinking about replaying it.

That’s why fans have worked tirelessly to remake the game with modern graphics to see if it still has the same magic, and while I’m of the opinion that the game is fine in its original state I can’t deny that this remake doesn’t look pretty good either.

You can see it in action on YouTube and while it’s a bit rough around the edges it does give us a few concept ideas of what it would look like if Nintendo decided to actually remake the game one day.

Not that they ever would, it made that quite clearly with Super Mario 3D All-Stars which packaged together three great Mario games and hardly changed a thing about them.

Still fans are impressed with this concept of a remake, with one saying if Nintendo “do this and add in some new levels this would sell so fast.”

Another said "This is what childhood dreams are made of!” and one more added “how Crash Bandicoot and Spyro got full on remakes but SM64 hasn't is beyond me.”

You never know, maybe Nintendo is saving a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2 as it’ll definitely need another 3D Mario game to sell it.

Personally I’m happy with the original version but I can still see the appeal of one with better graphics and maybe more worlds.
