Pokémon Pokopia has already conquered the internet, just one day after it launched.
Regardless of what social media platform I open up, my algorithm is feeding me exclusively Pokémon Pokopia content - not a scrap of Marathon in sight.
In fact, I have a friend who headed out last night to purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 console purely because they had FOMO.
Pokémon Pokopia purely has a chokehold on us all. The game is full of tons of secrets for players to discover, and one of those is a subtle teaser of the upcoming Gen 10 games Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves that were recently unveiled for Pokémon Day.
Advert
During the annual Pokémon Presents showcase, an initial trailer for the game duo was dropped, showcasing a tropical island filled with ‘mon both on land and in the sea.
The trailer actually took us below the ocean’s surface where a Lumineon could be spotted.
Well, as discovered by VGC, this shot is actually featured on an in-game poster in Pokémon Pokopia.

Check out the Pokemon Winds and Waves trailer below, the composition is pretty much exactly the same. Jump to 2:50 if you just saw to see the comparison!
This is making me wonder what other subtle Winds and Waves hints might be hiding in Pokopia?
The poster can be found early in the game, I’ve just had a little wander around to find it. If you’ve unlocked the gate to the right side of Withered Wastelands that leads to Bleak Beach, you can spot it on the wall inside there.
Pokémon Pokopia Is Definitely a GOTY Contender
I literally cannot stop playing Pokémon Pokopia. In fact, last night I intended to play for an hour or so in bed, looked at the clock, and realised four hours had passed and it was 2am.
In our review, I awarded the game a perfect score of 10.
I said, “There’s no one reason why Pokémon Pokopia is so special; this game is a sum of its parts, without a single weak link in the chain.
“It’s a title that offers a unique spin on the cosy formula, made all the more magical by the familiarity of this wonderful franchise.
“Pokémon Pokopia is a true adventure that boasts a refreshing sense of freedom. Totally devoid of grind, this experience rewards the curious with heaps of content on offer.
“You’ll be hard pressed to put it down, and it's certainly a title that we’ll all be discussing when this year’s GOTY discussion rolls around.”
The game’s very first in-game event kicks off next week, and it features exclusive ‘mon you won’t be able to get anywhere else.
I hope we’ll continue to see this kind of post-launch support for a very long time.
