I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but did you know The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim features a secret unlock based on The Legend of Zelda?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now almost 15 years old, and in that time it’s been ported to a whole manner of different video game systems.

You can play it on PC, you can play it on console, you can even play it on your smart fridge if you’re so inclined.

With Bethesda recently releasing Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s brought up conversations again regarding the different platform versions, which is better, and the benefits of each.

But believe it or not, the Nintendo Switch versions of Skyrim actually feature a secret easter egg based on The Legend of Zelda series, obtainable in a few ways.

How To Obtain The Zelda Gear In Skyrim

While playing Skyrim on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, go to the spells section of your inventory and you’ll find a spell called “amiibo”. Equip it, and cast it by pressing R.

You’ll summon a large gold circle on the ground, which means your amiibo is now ready to be scanned. If you have a Zelda-themed amiibo, tap it to the NFC reader on your controller and a chest will appear in-game where the golden circle was located.

This chest will include some special items like Gold or Armour, but it also has a 20 percent chance to include some loot based on The Legend of Zelda series.

Using this method, you can get the Hylian Shield, the Champion’s Tunic, and of course, the Master Sword.

There Is Another Way To Get The Zelda Items

If you don’t own any Zelda-themed amiibo, you can also collect this gear by going to High Hrothgar. The items can be found at the Throat of the World, basically the highest peak in the game.

You’ll need to have progressed the main questline far enough to get access to the Throat of the World, or use a bit of acrobatics to shimmy your way around the mountain and bypass the magical barrier at High Hrothgar.

At the Throat of the World, tucked away near the Dragon Tablet you’ll find a chest housing the three Zelda items.

Note that while you can find multiples of the Champion’s Tunic and Hylian Shield, there can only be one Master Sword in the world at one time, so this won’t appear in the chest if you already have one.
