Pokémon fans surprised with free Christmas DLC you can nab now

Let the merriment commence in this special Pokémon Christmas DLC.

To mark the start of the festive period, Pokémon GO is holding an event.

This event will be compromised of two halves, the first of which will begin on 17 December.

As for the second portion of the holiday special, we’re not sure what that involves just yet; Niantic has only announced plans for the first part.

You’ll find not just one present under the Pokémon GO tree but several, the first of which comes in the form of returning Pokémon dressed in Holiday themed outfits. Your next gift is of a unique Christmas Pokémon.

Unlike the other ‘mons you can catch, the Christmas Dedenne can’t be discovered in the wild.

Instead, you’ll need to participate in a One-Star Raid.

A festive Dedenne isn’t the only cutie available during these raids – other ‘mons you’ve missed in the past will appear dressed in their festive best.

Most notably, Pikachu in its Winter Carnival attire.

For those who want more of a challenge this Christmas, Three-Star Raids offer just that, as well as the prize of Stantler and Glaceon donning their winter outfits.

You’ll also find festive goodies outside of raids, including the possibility of your eggs hatching to reveal Spheal wearing an adorable scarf.

Think of this as Pokémon GO’s winter fashion show.

But wait, there’s yet another present left to be unwrapped.

You can get a shiny Sandygast.

There’s a lot to work your way through during this event, and we’ve only received information about the first half!
