Pokémon fans need to check out this awesome remake of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen, we need it to be an official project.

It’s been quite a tough week for Pokémon fans, as The Pokémon Company was hit with a massive data leak that revealed info on the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game, as well as disturbing lore about the Pokémon themselves…

Take a look at the trailer for Pokémon: Legends Z-A below

What Lapras and Typhlosion get up to in their space time though isn’t the topic of today’s discussion, that’d be this fan-made remake of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen.

Technically Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen are already remakes of the Gen I games, but this project reimagines them as HD2D games similar to some of the Square Enix RPG remakes, and Octopath Traveler.

You can see the results for yourself on Reddit as the creator posted a video of their creation in a thread, saying “I've always wondered how a 2D Pokémon game would look if it was made in a style similar to Octopath Traveler so I made this, what do you think?"

Graphically not much has changed with the artstyle, though there's now a sense of depth to the world that makes it look more fun than ever to explore.

The video itself only covers Pallet Town and the grassy area above it, but one can only imagine what other areas in the game like the Seafoam Islands and Cerulean Cave could look like in this style.

It’s begging to be adopted by The Pokémon Company if it fancies remaking the older games, and fans couldn’t agree more.

“Want this now” said one viewer and “Technology is incredible!” referenced another. One fan even said they’d have “taken something like this over XY all those years ago.”

In all likelihood we’re not getting remakes of the old-gen games anytime soon, and if we are it’ll likely be in the style of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee, we can dream though.
