Today will see Nintendo host its Switch 2 event, giving us all the information we have been craving surrounding the highly-anticipated handheld release.

However, until we finally get our hands on the Nintendo Switch 2, we have some more time to spend with the current Switch handheld and what better way to spend our remaining months with it than to customise it.

Check out the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement ahead of today's Direct below!

Luckily, Nintendo has given us a way to do just that and better yet, it is completely free.

Available now until 5 May, Nintendo is giving Switch users the chance to grab some free icons inspired by Kirby’s Adventure.

This 1993 action-platform game has gone on to inspire many other Kirby games, and players can now redeem eight icons which can then be added to your Switch profile as customisation.

Six of the icons feature variations of Kirby whilst the last two showcase Meta Knight and King Dedede.

Each icon costs 10 Platinum coins but luckily, this is a free virtual currency that is earned through completing various tasks across the Nintendo Switch so it is pretty certain that you would have earned some during your Switch career.

If not, you can easily earn more by filling in surveys or linking your Nintendo account to your Network ID.

The latter will reward you with 100 Platinum coins which is more than enough to grab yourself one of the brand-new Kirby icons.

You can access the free icons via the Nintendo Switch home screen by heading to ‘Nintendo Switch Online’ and then finding the ‘Missions & Rewards’ tab.

Once here, you will be able to redeem the icons and then edit your profile in order to set them as your profile picture.

Remember that you only have a month to claim then but once you have redeemed them, they are yours to keep forever.
