Nintendo is once again giving away some lovely freebies for players who use the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Every so often the Japanese company will release a bunch of lovely free bits for users. All you need to do is sign into the Nintendo Switch Online app and you can choose from a huge selection.

The Nintendo icons, backgrounds, and profile frames are a lovely addition to the service, allowing you to personalise your profile and show off a bit of style.

The current selection will rotate out on 1 August and you’ll lose the ability to grab any of these free profile options.

On offer, at the moment, are plenty of cute icons from some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises and titles.

The majority, which you can see easily on Twitter, come from the Mario games. This means you can grab icons from Super Mario Wonder, Super Mario Odyssey, and plenty from the retro days of the NES.

Every icon, background, and frame, will cost you 10 platinum points. If you aren’t sure how you earn these points, you can find more details in the app on Nintendo Switch.

Points can be earned by completing missions via the console or your smartphone, these will accumulate and can be redeemed at any time via the console.

Since the launch of profile customisation, Nintendo often releases new options whenever a new game is released. For example, when Metroid Dread dropped, Nintendo gave us a bunch of Metroid icons to use.

To customise your profile you can select your profile icon on the Switch and choose separate pictures, a frame, and a background.

You can showcase your favourite game, or what you’re currently playing, which is great when you play online a lot and people are viewing your profile often. Have at it!
