Nintendo fans can be happy that the 2023 banger, Dave the Diver, is dropping some free DLC in the laps.

Dave the Diver proved to be a standout success in 2023, with fans diving in to catch fish, cook up exotic dishes, and explore a vast underwater history.

Since its release, developer MINTROCKET have partnered up with several pop culture icons to expand Dave’s world, bringing over Ichiban Kasuga from the Yakuza series, and the legendary monster Godzilla.

The Godzilla crossover was a limited-time appearance, but if you missed out on it, MINTROCKET recently announced that the extra features would be returning, and it’s back on Nintendo Switch until 31 December 2026.

This is great news for fans who didn’t get the chance to grab this the first time, and one eager fan over on Twitter celebrated the news, saying, “Oh wow, what a surprise.”

I actually didn’t get a chance to grab this myself, so will be dashing over to the store to grab it, but thankfully, there’s no need to rush as you’ve got months until Godzilla retreats back into the ocean.

This isn’t limited to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2; Godzilla is also making a return on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox Series consoles.

Dave the Diver provided a world of fishing and sushi snacks, bringing an engaging gameplay loop that capitalised on our overwhelming love of fishing mini-games.

The breakout success led to thousands of positive reviews on Steam, and glowing opinions across social media.

With pixel graphics that held bags of charm, lots of different fish to catch, and a strange underwater history begging to be explored, Dave the Diver became an inside game darling.

If you haven’t played it, this is your chance to get stuck in and hook yourself a winner before facing off against Godzilla.
