Now that we no longer need to question when the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released, our attention has turned to the Nintendo Switch 2.

When will it be officially announced?

Obviously, we all know that it’s happening, it’s merely a question of when.

Naturally, this is a hot topic for the gaming community to debate. However, with those debates comes much disagreement.

Case in point is the discussion that Redditor mastrobeiter started when they said they anticipated the Switch 2 will be announced at The Game Awards.

“The Game Awards could be a perfect opportunity to announce the new console,” they suggested.

They added, “Obviously this is only a speculation, Nintendo is unpredictable, and we don't know for sure when they'll actually announce it, but I really hope it's going to be at the Game Awards.”

Just so we’re all on the same page here, the OP isn’t claiming they have some insider knowledge; their suggestion is based on a feeling they have.

Still, even despite the fact they make it clear that this is just mere speculation, other fans are calling the OP out for foolishly suggesting TGA is when the announcement will occur.

“Absolutely not, Nintendo would never do a tease/reveal for something so big at an awards show [...] We'll probably get the reveal early next year as its own teaser trailer and then event that Nintendo will do all on its own, just be patient,” replied Silvers1339.

User mrmivo seconded the theory that Nintendo wouldn't use an award show to make such an announcement.

“I feel it's more likely that Nintendo will reveal the Switch successor in a random tweet on Wednesday than that they'll do it at TGA,” they remarked.

Given how unusual some of Nintendo’s previous reveals have been, we certainly understand their line of reasoning here.

Others, while still doubtful, can’t help but hope that the OP is correct.

“I really hope you are right, mate... if that's the case, my Christmas present will be a pre-order,” posted svenkil.

Even if it is revealed at TGA, we can all agree that it won’t launch until well into next year.
