Nintendo Switch 2 power compared to one specific console

This would be a major upgrade

The end is nigh, and by that I’m referring to the wait for the Nintendo Switch’s successor.

It was in May of this year that the console was first teased by Nintendo who confirmed that it would be revealed by the end of the current fiscal year.

If you don’t know, that fiscal year runs from April 2024 to April 2025.

It goes without saying that we’re currently seeing 2024 out having not received a full reveal which means one must be coming within the next three months.

It’s pretty easy to tell that we’re nearing reveal time, and I don’t just mean because Nintendo’s self-set deadline is fast approaching.

I’m referring to the fact that leaks are as rife as they possibly can be.

Practically everyday a new detail about the console leaks, sometimes from third-party accessory suppliers and sometimes from so-called insiders.

Today is no different, with information about the Nintendo Switch 2’s power coming to light, if that’s indeed what the console is called.

Pokémon Legends Z-A will release on both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, as previously revealed.

As reported by Forbes, the general consensus is that the Nintendo Switch 2 will match the power of the PlayStation 4 Pro.

I will warn you though, there’s little here in the way of concrete proof.

That being said, this does feel like a well educated guess if you look at the Nintendo Switch’s current frame rate and resolution output and anticipate the successor’s rate of growth.

If the Nintendo Switch 2 is to be comparable to the PlayStation 4 Pro, that’s excellent news for gamers.

As many on social media have pointed out, plenty of PlayStation 4 titles could pass off as PS5 exclusives.

Graphics are somewhat reaching a peak - and it’s only really Nintendo that needs to play catch up.

It’s a tweet by Twitter user The NCSmaster that’s drumming up hype for the Switch 2.

“Left is PS4 Pro. Right is PS5. When I tell you this generational jump is negligible at best and nothing at worst. Switch 2 being a PS4 Pro strength handheld is more than fine,” they wrote.

And I quite agree. If the Nintendo Switch 2 can match the graphics of The Last of Us Part II or Horizon Zero Dawn, I’ll be thrilled.

Of course, we should take such teases with a pinch of salt in the meantime.

Put us out of our misery Nintendo. Reveal the dang thing.
