Nintendo fans torn over Switch 2's first Pokémon game

Will this be its first Pokémon game?

It’s always going to be a massive deal when a new Pokémon game arrives, especially when it's released on a shiny new Nintendo console.

Following months of rumours, Nintendo finally acknowledged that the Switch 2 is on the way after it was announced in true fashion by the tech giant of the video gaming world. However, at this time, we do not know exactly when the Switch successor will arrive, what it will be called or how much it will cost.

Check out the Pokémon Legends: Z-A teaser trailer below!

There was an apparent leaked design of the Nintendo Switch 2 which left fans feeling very baffled. But I think at this point, it’s probably safe to take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until Nintendo makes an official reveal.

That being said, it is expected that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released at some point in 2025 which just so happens to be the same year that the next major Pokémon game is released with Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

We know that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released on the current Nintendo Switch system but with it expected to be released in the same year as the Switch successor, some fans are hoping that it will be released on both console generations.

“Will Pokémon Legends: Z-A be exclusive to Switch 2?” asked Redditor Epic-Gamer_09.

They continued: “We know Z-A is coming out in 2025 and that the Switch 2 is likely also coming out in 2025, so I don't see a world where it's a Switch 1 exclusive. With that said, will it be a Switch 2 exclusive, or will they pull a Breath of the Wild and release it on both?”

“I think Z-A will be a hybrid game on the Switch and Switch 2, like BOTW,” agreed Nerdtante_G3C.

“It will probably be either on both or as a Switch 1 exclusive that's playable on Switch 2. Just like when Pokémon Black and White came out after the 3DS launch,” replied PyrpleForever. “Also, if Nintendo said it's going to be on the Switch in its presentation then it has to be.”

“The game will just come out on the Switch,” Src-Freak claimed. “Just because a new console is on the horizon, doesn’t mean that every new game that gets announced will only come out on the next console.”

Hopefully, Nintendo will reveal all by the end of this year in relation to the Switch successor as well as a gameplay trailer and release date for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
