The lack of Nintendo Switch 2 announcements is causing trouble for Nintendo, yet its official way of dealing with the matter has yet to subdue the masses.

In fact, each time Nintendo attempts to get ahead of Switch 2 leaks and rumours, it seems to make matters worse for itself.

A fine example of this is how fans are reacting to the latest official update from Nintendo about its upcoming hardware.

Over the last couple of days, numerous images and videos have appeared online seemingly revealing the design of the Switch 2.

Pretty much every aspect of the console has been leaked early.

Nintendo’s come back?

“Regarding the images and videos, they are not official.”

It’s not exactly the kind of damage control people were expecting, and it shows in the lack of sympathy given to Nintendo’s current situation.

Even though gamers can understand Nintendo’s frustration, they also lay most of the blame at Nintendo’s feet.

“This is what happens when you delay the reveal,” @meganitro123 commented on social media.

Continuously announcing everything else but the Switch’s successor is an odd way to behave, at least as far as fans are concerned.

Nintendo tells Japanese newspaper The Sankei Shimbun the images and videos from CES "are not official"!

“Well yes. They're not. Doesn't mean it's not TRUE,” replied @schrammadonna. “And also... why haven't they shown the Switch successor yet? What are they even waiting for?”

After all that’s happened over the last month alone, many believe Nintendo is trying too hard to say these leaks aren’t official.

“With these companies, it’s all about wording,” said @BrentHosaka. “They said it’s ‘not official’ but they didn't say it was fake.”

Now we wait.

We wait for Nintendo to announce the Switch 2, even though we pretty much feel like we know everything about it.

What a sorry state of affairs this has turned into.
