It’s always nice when we can check out a video game for free before splashing our hard-earned cash, especially when it can drastically reduce the chances of us wasting our money regardless of our platform of choice.

The days of the physical demo disc were phased out many years ago but now we’re in the ever-evolving digital game, platforms such as the Nintendo eShop have a plethora of free games that we can play in a near instant.

Check out the Metroid Dread trailer below!

So, with that in mind, here are six playable demos that you can download now for free via the Nintendo eShop:

  • Metroid Dread: “An updated version of the free demo of Metroid Dread is now available. Descend into the depths of planet ZDR in either Normal or Rookie Mode and get a taste of Samus Aran's latest mission, culminating in a battle against the huge beast Corpius!”
  • Hyrule Warriors - Age of Calamity: “Play through the game's first chapter either by yourself or in local two-player mode as Link, Zelda and Impa. You can then carry your save data from the demo over to the full game, and continue your quest to defeat Calamity Ganon!”
  • Mario Strikers - Battle League Football: “Aim for victory with teamwork, tackles, table-turning items, and score-boosting Hyper Strikes in Mario Strikers: Battle League Football on Nintendo Switch. Do whatever it takes to win in frantic local multiplayer and team up with other players online to become the world’s top club!”
  • Pokémon - Let’s Go Pikachu/Let’s Go Eevee: “Return to the Kanto region and experience a classic Pokémon journey in a whole new way with Pokémon: Let's Go!”
  • Pokkén Tournament DX: “Take direct control of over 20 prized Battle Pokémon as you unleash a flurry of powerful moves in adrenaline-fuelled matches! Call upon Support Pokémon to assist in the fight, then unleash your Pokémon’s unique Burst Attack as you work your way up the ranks.”
  • Pikmin 4: “Discover a strange new world inhabited by tiny plant-like creatures in Pikmin 4 for Nintendo Switch. Immerse yourself in this floral adventure with the free demo and transfer your progress to the full game.”

So, there you have it, those are just six of many free demos that you can play today via the Nintendo eShop. Hopefully at least one of the above tickles your fancy.
