And you've got less than two weeks left before you can claim it

Nintendo just announced the “Play On” event for the Nintendo Switch, which is coming packaged with a mystery “big-name Game Trial” - and nobody can quite figure out what game they could be referring to.

As revealed on the Nintendo UK Twitter account, the Play On event is now, um, on, and it’ll be on for the next six weeks.

“Play on with #NintendoSwitch!” announced the Nintendo UK Twitter account, “Over the next six weeks, you can enjoy: Lots of discounted games, Bonus Gold Points on #NintendoSwitchOnline membership purchases, a big-name Game Trial …and more!”

So what’s the “big-name Game Trial”? No idea!

Yeah, sorry to be unhelpful, but Nintendo didn’t exactly offer much in the way of any hints.

Don't forget, the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct showcase is due to be held on 2 April.

The press release simply states: “Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to play the full version of a mystery game for free, with a discount available for everyone. Stay tuned to find out what it is!”

Wow, thanks, Nintendo. I mean all we can really do is theorise at this point, based on past Game Trial titles.

Someone over on Reddit has actually compiled a list of all the past Game Trial titles, which honestly includes some pretty big names as is, such as Mario Tennis Aces, Stardew Valley, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

However, Nintendo has never really bragged about a “big name” featuring in the Game Trials before, so I can only assume that this next one is something big. Perhaps even as big as something like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?

Well, whatever it ends up being, Nintendo did state that the new Game Trial title will go live on 24 February, so we won’t have long to wait.

Still gotta wonder what’s worth hyping up this much though. Maybe it’s a port of an Xbox title? I reckon a Nintendo Switch could handle Halo: The Master Chief Collection…
