It’s finally happening.

LEGO and Pokémon have unveiled a long-awaited collaboration, with the first batch of sets due to arrive next year in celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary.

If you’re sitting there thinking, “I swear LEGO Pokémon sets already exist”, you may be thinking of the MEGA sets.

It’s hard to believe that LEGO Pokémon hasn’t already landed but I assure you, it’s the truth.

These sets will be the first of their kind.

“Electrify your imagination in 2026 and get ready to build something we’ve never built before,” a teaser reads.

Pokémon Legends Z-A is the next franchise release, due to land later this year.

As for exactly what we can expect from the sets, well, details are still being kept under wraps.

The teaser released alongside the announcement features Pikachu’s tail made out of LEGO so assumedly, we’ll get a brick version of Ash Ketchum’s reliable companion.

What would you personally like to see? I’m crossing my fingers for a Gen 1 starter ‘mon set. Imagine how adorable that would be.

Needless to say, fans are already hyped by this collaboration, despite the vagueness surrounding it.

“About time,” wrote AdamZiz on Twitter.

“Instant buy,” Tony54381404 added.

Many wondered why the collab had been announced so early, and it’s a good point.

Then again, I’m imagining these sets are going to be pretty damn expensive, so it gives us all plenty of time to save.

That’s if we can get our hands on them because if you’ve been paying attention to what’s been going on in the Pokémon TCG world, you’ll know that scalpers are currently having a field day with the franchise.

Let’s hope then that availability is plentiful.

Of course, when either LEGO or Pokémon bring us more information, we’ll provide you with the latest update.
