Although we know that Mass Effect 5 is in fact in development at BioWare, not much else is known about the highly-anticipated sequel.

However, what we do know is that several members of the team that worked on the original Mass Effect trilogy will be returning which has left fans feeling hopeful.

Check out the trailer for Mass Effect 2 below!

It has been seven years since the last instalment in the Mass Effect series was released with the arrival of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

However, it is the original trilogy that fans are calling out for more of and that looks to be on the horizon according to a blog post by BioWare.

With its update revealing that development on Mass Effect 5 is “proceeding very well”, fans are hoping they will receive more information about the next entry soon.

Until then, it has recently been revealed that several BioWare veterans will be returning for the project including the executive producer, art director, creative director and game director.

The team members who notably worked on the Mass Effect trilogy will also be working on the next instalment and with the original games marked as some of the best RPGs of all time, this is exciting news.

This news was confirmed by Michael Gamble, project director and executive producer at BioWare after fans asked for confirmation that trilogy vets would be returning.

However, with Mass Effect: Andromeda receiving mixed reviews back in 2017, some fans are not feeling too hopeful about the future of the series, especially as it has been so long in the making.

“I hate to say it, but I don’t think this game is ever actually gonna happen, it doesn’t seem likely that BioWare will survive the next couple years,” read one comment over on r/masseffect.

“EA could give it to another studio I guess, but at that point it’s a whole new game.”

It remains to be seen what the future will be like for Mass Effect 5 but it is worth remaining hopeful!
