GTA 6 delay announcement was already teased, and we all missed it

It won't be delayed though...hopefully

GTA VI is the most-anticipated game of 2025, so much so that it won a Game Award for it earlier this month.

While Rockstar Games still hasn’t provided a concrete release date or a second trailer we know its scheduled for a late 2025 launch.

Despite there being no cause for concern fans are still wary of a potential delay, and hints from a former Rockstar Games employee aren’t helping.

Former GTA developer Obbe Vermeij, who worked on GTA IV, has warned that if the game isn’t in a state Rockstar is happy with it will delay the game rather than release an unfinished product.

“The decision to delay GTA IV was made 4 months or so before the original release date” Vermeij said, “any further and it’s hard to make the call. R* is probably not in a position to determine whether they will hit 2025 until May-ish.”

They continued “It [GTA IV] really wasn't ready yet. I would have been a mess. Delaying is almost always the right option imo.”

While it would be annoying I’m sure the last thing any of us want is another Cyberpunk 2077 situation on our hands.

Keep in mind though that many industry insiders have claimed they’d be incredibly surprised if Rockstar has to delay the game so the likelihood of it happening seems low for the time being.

Personally I’d imagine that the game is pretty much finished by the time of writing, and all that’s left on development is to add in a few more details here and there before committing to polish and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

GTA VI is going to feature an enormous open-world so Rockstar will need as much time as it can get to ensure all the pieces work together.
