'Fallout 5' is coming sooner than we expected, with a twist

We're not sure how we feel about this news

Fallout 4 has a special place in my heart, as it was one of the first action RPGs I completed having decided to try something other than repeatedly playing Dragon Age or Mass Effect. For that reason alone, I’ll always love it. However, there’s no denying I want Fallout 5 as much as the next fan.

It turns out that we’ll be getting that next instalment earlier than expected, however, it’s not as straightforward as it sounds. Fans have been demanding some kind of Fallout news regarding the next game for quite some time now, to the point that Bethesda has had to respond to those demands and assure gamers it’s coming.

Fallout 5 is exciting and all, but Fallout New Vegas is where it's at for maximum entertainment value

And those assurances are proving true, but not as we expected. You see, while Fallout 5 is dropping sooner than we thought, it’s not in the way we envisioned.

According to a recent article, the creators behind the upcoming Fallout TV series see the show as Fallout 5 and have referred to it as such.

“We didn't start from a place of characters from the games," said Graham Wagner, the executive producer of the show. "We set things after. We kind of told ourselves, this is Fallout 5, this is just another installation, and we're starting with fresh snow.”

However, the show creators referring to the Amazon Prime series as such presents us with the very real issue that the video game Fallout 5 is a long time off, perhaps decades. “Fallout 5 is a decade away at the earliest, best case scenario. Maybe there is a slight chance of another game made by a different dev in the meantime, but I wouldn't count on that,” said one worried fan.

If it wasn’t bad enough waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI, to the point that many of us fear we’ll be deceased by the time it launches, we now have to worry that the same can be said of Fallout 5.
