Baldur's Gate 3's first major patch promises over 1,000 bug fixes and tweaks

Over 1,000 – that's incredible!

There’s been a lot of teasing from Baldur’s Gate 3 of late, with the first patch of the game promising over 1,000 tweaks! We know Larian Studios said the list was big, but this is something else.

On 15 August, the CEO of Larian Studios Swen Vincke tweeted “We're all very enthused by your feedback. It's very rewarding. Our focus now is fixing any issues you report, but we are listening to suggestions. Current roadmap: a) Hotfix 4, b) Patch 1 (+1000 fixes and tweaks), c) Patch 2. The latter will already incorporate some requests.”

Embrace the epicness of Baldur's Gate 3!

Since its release on 3 August, BG 3 has been turning the heads of any gamer mildly curious about the mystical world it promises. From horny players embarking on truly unique romances, to the players who are blasting through the game in 10 minutes, it’s been well-received.

However, while already a popular game, able to reach the dizzying heights of tenth best video game on Metacritic, it isn’t without its faults. Granted, these issues haven’t prevented gamers from enjoying their romps through the magical wilderness, but life would be easier once they’re resolved.

Some fans may be saddened to learn that the first patch won’t include the hugely requested feature of later customisation – it’s a hot topic for good reason. Still, while it won’t be included in the first wave of fixes, seeing Vincke confirm that Patch 2 will include “some requests” gives us hope that we’ll get the feature soon.

With so many changes and updates on the horizon, it’s understandable that Xbox players are demanding Xbox drop its Series S. According to Michael Douse, Larian Studios' director, the reason the game is delayed indefinitely for Xbox is because the Xbox S can’t handle the split-screen elements. Naturally, upon hearing this news of “technical limitations”, Xbox owners slammed the Series S for standing in their way of one of the best RPGs of 2023.

As an Xbox owner myself, I for one look forward to the day when Microsoft isn’t held back by some of its… questionable… console choices.
