Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer is free-to-play this week offering a variety of maps and modes.

Developed by Infinity Ward, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was released in October 2022 and is the sequel to the 2019 reboot as well as a reimagining of the classic game that was first released in 2009.

On Metacritic, Modern Warfare II received decent reviews, averaging scores between 76 to 79 depending on the platform. However, despite not reaching the critical heights that publisher Activision Blizzard may had hoped, the 2022 reboot still became the best-selling Call of Duty game in the franchise during its opening weekend.

Some fans of the Call of Duty series arrive for its over-the-top and high-octane single player offerings, whereas some arrive for its multiplayer modes. Well, if you’re one of those that enjoy the latter, then you’re in for a treat this week.

As reported by Insider Gaming, in celebration of Season Three, the Free Access week grants all access to the multiplayer maps and modes for Modern Warfare II starting today (19 April) to Wednesday, 26 April.

Some of the modes include; Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Invasion and more. As for the maps, it even includes the new map, Pelayo’s Lighthouse as well as the Gunfight map, Exhibit.

Of course, battle royale Warzone 2.0 and the DMZ mode are free-to-play as standard, unlike the more traditional modes of Modern Warfare II, which require the purchase of the full game. Once the Free Access week is over, all your multiplayer stats will carry over should you decide to buy the full game.

In recent Call of Duty news, Warzone 2.0 has been heavily criticised for its ‘shameless’ pay-to-win bundles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II as well as Warzone 2.0 are available now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
