You're actually able to get your grubby mitts on the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II campaign ahead of its release, and it's surprisingly simple if slightly spenny.

Sporting a "new take on classic boots-on-the-ground gameplay," Modern Warfare II continues the story set up in the Modern Warfare reboot from a few years ago, bringing back characters like Captain Price, Gaz, Ghost, Soap, Kate Laswell and Farah. Task Force 141 must respond to a missile strike from the United States that kills a foreign general, containing the threat from al-Qatala and a drug cartel called Las Almas.

"Players will need to strategically consider the role of stealth, amphibious assaults, vehicular warfare, and much more across all our modes," said producer Rick Alvarez in an interview with Stack. "Put simply, Modern Warfare II is the most ambitious game we’ve ever made."

If you are agog with the potential of the game's campaign, feel free to dive in ahead of the crowds. Go on. All you need to do is pre-order a digital copy of Modern Warfare II. That's a digital copy just to be sure you've got the message as a physical copy will not unlock the early access period.

On 20 October, the game's campaign will be available to play for those who have pre-ordered, and if you complete the story, you'll get a handful of goodies. These include:

  • 1 Hour Double Weapon XP Token
