Mass Effect 5 may have just been teased right under our noses

Rookie mistake

We’re full steam ahead for Mass Effect 5.

Even though the game is years away from launching (it kills me to write that), speculation is certain to fill in the gaps while we wait.

Since Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed to impress some of the fandom, it’s fair to say that Mass Effect 5 is in for an uphill battle to prove itself.

It could be that we’ve had a major ME5 teaser in front of us all along, we just didn’t realise it.

But what does this Mass Effect 5 teaser mean?

This is usually the way of things, after all.

BioWare’s Michael Gamble shared a post on social media that has the Mass Effect community questioning if this is merely a helpful suggestion or an important clue.

Gamble said, “So many new Mass Effect fans popping up in my mentions. Maybe because it’s like 5 bucks or something. Awesome to see. There’s like an extra game worth of DLC content in there but make sure you play Lair of the Shadow Broker.”

At face value, it looks like a pretty normal post from one of the developers.

But when you combine this tweet with the Liara sneak peek we got in the ME5 teaser trailer, this comment feels important.

Perhaps we’ve merely painted on fresh clown makeup, destined to be disappointed when another theory falls through.

Or maybe there’s something in the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC that points to the future of the franchise.

This isn’t merely a throwaway mission you can skip – its effects have consequences that are felt in ME3.

Obviously, you can neglect to play the DLC if you so wish, but doing so means you have to fill in the blanks for yourselves when playing ME3, which is never ideal.

Liara has always played a significant role in previous ME games - even Andromeda - it stands to reason she will again.
