Marvel fans slam new Deadpool as ‘worst thing’ company has done in years

It's really not, though, is it?

I’m not sure about the “worst thing” Marvel has ever done, to be honest; the company has put a foot wrong so many times across its lengthy history, choosing a new Deadpool is the least impactful.

That’s not how one fan feels though, who took to social media after seeing the new Deadpool reveal, branding it “one of the worst ideas from Marvel in recent years, and that is including MJ and Paul as a couple with imaginary children”.

To be fair, they did say “in recent years” but then, are we considering when Steve Rogers said Hail Hydra as recent?

This new Deadpool, then, can be found in the wonderful world of Marvel Comics and is basically just Gwen Stacy resurrected to take on the role of merc with a mouth.

Sure, it’s a bit of a cop-out, but then Gwenpool is one of the most popular recent Marvel Comics characters, even taking over Fortnite for a while.

However, Gwenpool and Gwen Stacy have always been two different characters, with two completely different backgrounds.

Despite knowing the success Gwenpool has, and why this is an obvious push from Marvel, the fans are not happy, to say the least.

“Marvel have no idea what they are doing, do they?” commented one fan.

Another jumped into the conversation, saying, “There are very few things that have been done with superhero comics that can arguably be described as works of literature, and the death of Gwen Stacy is one of them. I don’t understand why hacks keep trying to f**k with it.”

This isn’t the first time creators have tried to play around with the legacy of Gwen Stacy; she’s also been Venom, at one point.

But this seems a step too far for most, with one fan exclaiming, “Are you joking me? Not only do they resurrect a character nobody asked to be resurrected, but then they give her an identity that already exists in the Marvel universe?”

Oh dear, how will this one play out?
