Though the development process for Bungie’s upcoming shooter Marathon has been notably and publicly up and down over the last few years, we are finally on the horizon of its full release on 5 March.
Heading into that date, things are looking quite positive, with the full cast list revealed for the game and Sony confirming the release date after Xbox accidentally revealed it via a rogue store listing.
The jury is still very much out on the quality of the final product; however, the PC specs for the game have now been revealed, and they present a really encouraging list of components for the minimum requirements that should allow most gamers to jump in and play.
Marathon Minimum and Recommended Specs Are Very Encouraging

As first reported by PC Gamer, the minimum and recommended specs for Marathon are highly accommodating and continue a really encouraging trend in which PC games have been remarkably playable on a wide range of mid-range machines.

As noted in the original PC Gamer article, those minimum specs are remarkably similar to those of the recently released and very popular extraction shooter Arc Raiders, though in some areas the game is actually even less demanding.
Given that the two games will be going head-to-head with each other in direct competition, the ability to play them easily could be a really important factor in determining which game comes out on top.
This is particularly true in these trying times, given the price of what were previously quite affordable PC components, which have risen extraordinarily due in large part to greedy AI data centres consuming much of the available supply.
With just six weeks to go until release, let’s hope Bungie can deliver a classic experience that replicates their greatest successes over their storied history.
