The hype surrounding HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation is far more intense than I think any of us ever imagined. I’m a major fan, so I knew I’d be hyped but seeing practically the entirety of the internet join in is a pleasant surprise.

The Last of Us has been branded “the greatest video game adaptation ever made” by critics in a series of rave reviews, but I think the show’s importance extends beyond that. This is an adaptation that has the potential to wow non-gaming viewers as well as existing fans. In case you missed it, season one is set to include multiple feature-length episodes, plus there’s an exciting new change when it comes to show’s Infected. The show has dazzled The Last of Us Part II’s director who said it may even be better than the game.

Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us below.

Kurt Margenau, co-director on The Last of Us Part II, has shared his thoughts on the premiere episode and let’s just say, he was impressed. Kurt tweeted, “Me after 90 min questioning everything because the show might actually be better than the game,” adding “Saw episode one. Worst thing about it is the wait for episode two. Fr tho TLOU stans gonna lose their f**kin minds.” If Naughty Dog’s devs are impressed with the show, it feels like we truly are in for a treat.

Speaking of The Last of Us Part II, showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann hinted that season two, as we suspected, would indeed adapt the plot of Part II. In fact, Mazin and Druckmann have said that the show won’t overstay its welcome. They’re only interested in adapting the games. Part II certainly contains a few scenes that I imagine will once again start a social media ruckus, both from those discovering the story for the first time and from those who just aren’t over what happened.

It’s no secret around these parts that I am an Abby stan so I cannot wait to see Part II brought to life. I’m getting ahead of myself though. Let’s enjoy season one first.
