Just a few weeks ago, The Last of Us Part 1 was nothing more than a whisper in the wind. Look at us now. We’re less than two months away from the release of Naughty Dog’s new-gen remake, and we’re expecting big things.

The Last of Us Part 1 boasts a chonky file size, coming in at 79GB. That puts it about on-par with The Last of Us Part II. Given its beefed-up stature and the fact that one dev recently called the game “the most meticulously built and crafted project that I have ever seen,” our expectations are high but one leaker is already claiming the contrary.

We compared The Last of Us Part 1 to the original game. Take a look at the results below.

Many of the leaks were swiftly removed from Reddit but ResetEra user ImBald posted one screenshot online along with several statements from the original leaker. The user claimed that the gameplay features “no gameplay improvements,” but there will be new accessibility options. They also claimed that you’ll now see Joel “add attachments” at work benches, and that the main improvements are in the animations and audio.

The screenshot appears to show Joel carrying Sarah in the opening sequence. Further screenshots appeared on Twitter showing a drastic graphical improvement from the first game. According to the ResetEra user, all of the screenshots were watermarked suggesting that an official gameplay preview may be on the horizon which would make sense given how close we are to the game’s release.

As always, this information has to be taken with a pinch of salt as the leaker didn’t verify their claims or source. Personally, I’d be dubious about the claim that the gameplay lacks improvement as The Last of Us Part II certainly has better mechanics than the original game so we’d at least expect to see Part II’s system implemented in the remake.
