Kingdom Come Deliverance II was a sequel that surpassed all expectations when it released last year, so of course Warhorse Studios are eager to do more.
The sequel was nominated for several awards at last Friday’s BAFTA Game Awards and ended up walking away with one of the prestigious trophies, but not before GAMINGbible spoke with Tom McKay on the red carpet.
McKay told us about the success of Kingdom Come Deliverance II and what it meant to both himself and Warhorse Studios, in addition to where he’d like his character Henry to go in a Kingdom Come Deliverance III.
Later on we spoke to members of Warhorse Studios who were keen to tease what's coming next from the team...
When asked if there was anything surprising about the success of the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Tom McKay praised the sequel for creating a more “broadened” and “diverse” fanbase.

“Warhorse have really spread their wings in terms of the narrative and the nature of the story, and what that's done very organically is welcomed in a whole broader church of people that have kind of followed the game and got involved”
There have also been plenty of lessons to be learned, and one challenge McKay reportedly faced was understanding Henry isn’t his character, but the players.

“The biggest lesson I learned probably was to do with the dexterity of character,” began McKay, “because in this game the director is essentially the player. The players manipulate who the character becomes and so I have to kind of execute every single version of that character.”
This led to a “wealth of possibilities” for how Henry could be portrayed.
While Kingdom Come Deliverance III hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet there’s obviously a good chance of it happening, as it feels like there are still plenty more stories to tell in this world.
McKay wasn’t going to give much away on this front saying those decisions are “way above my pay grade.”
“All I can say is I love this character. I love playing this character. If there's an appetite for more of this character, I'm up for it. I think what I really need to do and will do is just celebrate the work that we've done already.’
GAMINGbible also spoke with members of the development team for the Kingdom Come Deliverance games, who were much more open to talking about the future especially after just winning the award for Best Narrative.
They were quick to tease that more is on the way as there’s apparently a new project in the works already. Nothing was confirmed though they did explain plans to make Warhorse a titan of RPG games, and what’s coming next is something fans will definitely be excited about.
Without officially saying it, it sounded like a tease for that new Lord of the Rings RPG Warhorse is rumoured to be making…
