Hogwarts Legacy free DLC release leaves fans confused

A mysterious offering has been received by several students of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Hogwarts Legacy players are opening up the game to discover they’ve ‘unlocked’ the pricey Dark Arts Pack for free, but all may not be as it seems.

The Dark Arts Pack retails for £17.99, although it’s currently on sale in the UK for £7.19 on the PS Store until 31 July.

That’s a tall asking price for, well, not that much content.

The DLC pack includes the Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Cosmetic Set, and Dark Arts Battle Arena.

The Battle Arena barely differs from those which you can find in the base game except in this instance, you can use the unforgivable curses even if you did not acquire them during the story.

Some Hogwarts Legacy players appear to have been gifted the DLC pack, causing some confusion.

Reddit user GuyGardner69 is one such player.

Enjoy a relaxing tour of Hogwarts Legacy’s four house common rooms below.

“I've just turned on my Xbox, booted up [Hogwarts Legacy] for a little late night play session and had a pop up to say I've unlocked it,” the user wrote.

“I don't have the Deluxe Edition and I haven't bought the pack. Is this some kind of glitch or something?”

The screen said, “Reward Unlocked,” prompting the user to claim it.

This isn’t an isolated case, but HugeConclusion792 was able to shed some more light on the strange occurrence, writing, “Something like this happened to me too. Ii got the Dark Arts set and the next day, it was gone. I guess they were giving me a taste or something idk.”

If this is a glitch, you’d hope that devs would honour the error instead of taking the DLC away.

Through a quick scour of social media, I’ve already stumbled across several others who this has happened to.

At the time of writing, developers have not yet commented on the occurrence and whether it is indeed a glitch, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for an update.
