The upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake will introduce a character that was teased 24 years ago, and for the first time, we might actually get to see what she looks like.
Halo is without question one of the biggest first-party properties on Xbox, with its protagonist, the Master Chief, aka John-117, one of the most instantly recognisable video game characters of all time.
Ever since Halo: Combat Evolved was released in November 2001 as a launch title for the original Xbox, the series became one of the standard bearers of the first-person shooter genre on consoles.
Before Halo: Combat Evolved, console gamers looked on at PC gamers with envy, having a much smoother FPS experience using the trusty mouse and keyboard combo. Sure, the old Xbox Duke Controller wasn't as responsive as a keyboard and mouse, but for its time, it was as close as we’d probably get.

Now, to mark the upcoming 25th anniversary of when Halo: Combat Evolved was first released on Xbox, we’re being treated to a full remake built from the ground up, powered by Unreal Engine 5 with Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention that Halo: Campaign Evolved is not only coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S, but also PlayStation 5.

Halo: Campaign Evolved will not only have visual and gameplay improvements, but it will also feature new missions that were not initially in Combat Evolved, as well as new characters.

Well, when I say “new characters”, technically, this character isn't new, because she’s previously featured in Halo novels and audiobooks. However, as brought to our attention by Comicbook.com, for the very first time, we get to see officially what Foe Hammer (real name, Carol Rawley) looks like in Halo: Campaign Evolved.
How much of a role will Foe Hammer play?
Foe Hammer (her callsign name) is a pilot for the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) and is known for commanding the Pelican transport vehicle, Echo 419. Halo: Combat Evolved players might remember her voice when she drops off Master Chief during the ‘Silent Cartographer’ mission.
It’s unclear how much of a role Foe Hammer will play in Halo: Campaign Evolved, but we hope she’ll play an important one nonetheless. Only time will tell.

At the time of writing, Halo: Campaign Evolved does not have a solid release date, but we do know that it will arrive sometime in 2026. We’ll keep you posted as soon as that release date drops.
