For many, GTA: San Andreas is the pinnacle of Rockstar Games' ever-popular franchise.

Initially released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 and later for PC and Xbox, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the highest-scoring games on Metacritic with a mightily impressive 95 from critics and 9.1 from users.

The story of GTA: San Andreas tells the tale of Carl “CJ” Johnson, who returns to the city following the death of his mother, to find that his home of Groove Street has changed, and arguably, not for the better.

At the time, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas offered the largest map ever featured in the series. Players could not only take on main story missions but there were also plenty of side missions and activities too.

Whether the player wanted to learn to fly a plane, steal a jetpack, gamble at the casinos or frequently visit the gym, GTA: San Andreas was more like an RPG than any other game in the series. For its time, GTA: San Andreas was certainly impressive and still is today.

It’s been nearly 20 years since the initial release of GTA: San Andreas and it would be fair to assume that veteran players have seen all there is to offer. However, thanks to the fantastic modding community on PC, there is plenty of life in this old dog yet such as brand-new missions.

Thanks to modder ‘Berony’, a brand new mission from the tool ‘DYOM’ (Design Your Own Mission) has been released. The new mission in question is the ‘San Fierro Police Dept. mod, which allows you to play Officer Jeffrey. “San Fierro Police Dept is a DYOM mission series in the world of GTA: San Andreas,” reads the description of the mod. “You play as Jeffrey, a police officer who tries to clean up San Fierro.” You can download the mod via moddb.com now.

In related news, speculation has suggested that GTA VI has been in development for 10 years and a developer has seemingly confirmed that the game has been rebooted at least once.

GTA VI is expected to be released sometime between 2024 to 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
