I don’t know whether to be excited or terrified at the prospect of an imminent Grand Theft Auto VI reveal. So-called insiders and leakers have been dropping ‘hints’ and ‘teases’ for months, heck even years, but something feels different this month.

It’s been suggested by one insider that Grand Theft Auto VI could get a full reveal on 26 October. When that claim was made, I’m sure many of us laughed it off. It wouldn’t be the first time an ‘insider’ has plucked a date from out of thin air, but strange things have started to happen since - and suddenly, fans are taking note. One dataminer spotted subtle changes made in the backend of Rockstar’s website. Rockstar then added fuel to the fire after posting an image featuring the Vinewood sign, yet only the V and I were prominently visible. You can see why there’s growing hype - and now, even GTA Forums staff are dropping teases.

Take a look at this incredible Vice City remaster mod below, the rumoured setting of GTA VI.

As spotted by Reddit user ytdiuyf, GTA Forums staff appear to be hinting towards an imminent announcement. Twitter user Mach1bud, a staff member at GTA Forums, simply tweeted, “Soon,” and fans are wondering what they might know. Previously, Mach1bud teased the reveal of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition before it was officially announced, so clearly the user does have some kind of insider intel.

Some fans remain dubious. One user wrote, “If anyone here said ‘soon’ and it dropped in the next three months, they’d technically be right as well lmfao,” while Atomictomic22 sat on the flipside, saying, “Man, this guy is legit actually, I remember. Damn, we are really close.”

ILoveRegenHealth optimistically commented, “I don't care if you call me crazy. I'm starting to believe. Because that $8.5billion projection from Strauss isn't a random figure to investors. You don't hit that number next year without one big juggernaut of a game. GTA VI has to be coming out next year to even get close to that figure, and the marketing machine will begin in October/November just like previous games.” Our eyes are peeled.
