GTA 6 release window has one major downside, fans complain

GTA VI hasn't shown us too much yet at this point, but one thing is already clear: this is going to be an absolutely massive game that takes up a huge amount of our time.

You probably already know GTA VI will let us explore the entire fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. Based on leaked gameplay there's going to be an absolute ton to do.

This is great, of course, but one has to wonder: will we have time for anything else in 2025 once GTA VI launches?

I can't imagine this a concern for the more casual fans who really only game heavily when a new Call Of Duty or Grand Theft Auto launches (nothing wrong with that, by the way), but what about the hardcore gamers who love to try and keep up with everything?

Over on the GTA VI subreddit fans are already worried about what looks to be an increasingly stacked 2025, and GTA VI's place within it.

One of the major concerns seems to be around the 2025 release of Mafia: The Old Country, a game fans of GTA VI will definitely be interested in playing. Unfortunately, if gamers have to choose between the two, it seems obvious where most will be focusing their time and money.

"I hate that Mafia is competing with GTA VI in the same year," one user wrote. "I really like those stories and gameplay. I hope it drops before GTA VI."

"Mafia: The Old Country and GTA VI releasing at the same year won't really make any difference as long as the new Mafia releases before GTA VI," another users reasoned.

"They know the entire universe will be playing GTA VI, all the attention will be on GTA VI, so there's no way they will release it after GTA VI, people will be busy playing it and not giving a shit about any other new game, they have that all in consideration."

It's worth noting that Take-Two Interactive owns both Mafia and Grand Theft Auto, so it would seem an odd move to release the new Mafia anywhere near GTA VI. We can probably assume, then, we'll have plenty of time to finish up The Old Country before GTA VI releases.
