It finally happened. Yes, Rockstar Games has acknowledged Grand Theft Auto VI. Well, they’ve acknowledged ‘the next Grand Theft Auto game’.

Fans are already up in arms that they didn’t simply refer to it as GTA VI, suggesting it may have another title. Rockstar confirmed that they’d be dropping the first trailer for the highly-anticipated game in early December. Could it be at The Game Awards taking place on 7 December? It’s a possibility but Rockstar is well known for doing things on its own terms. The unassuming tweet from Rockstar is already the most-popular gaming related tweet of all time. Fans are understandably hyped, except for the fella who had to drink his own pee after losing a bet. We don’t have a release window, and can’t say for certain that the trailer will include one, but Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive may have just dropped a major clue.

Take a look at this incredible Vice City remaster mod below while we await the GTA VI trailer.

As reported by Dexerto, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted towards a 2025 release window in a company earnings call yesterday. He reportedly said that both 2024 and 2025 were due to generate huge amounts of money for the company, adding that he’s optimistic about the games the company has in the pipeline. It’s not the first time Zelnick has made such a statement, although he previously pointed to 2025 as a lucrative year, not 2024.

Zelnick explained, “Our development pipeline is robust and diverse, and we are getting closer to delivering the groundbreaking titles that our audiences throughout the world have been anticipating. With an unwavering commitment to being the most creative, the most innovative, and the most efficient entertainment company, I have great confidence that our offerings will surpass our players’ expectations and set new standards of creative excellence in our industry.”

This does mean that once the trailer drops next month, we’ve still got an immense wait ahead of us. We’ll be one step closer to having GTA VI in our hands though, ending at least some of the speculation.
